The New Trixie and the Moai Beautiful Book Cover Awards 2022

Much like the original Trixie and the Moai Award, I chose 5 covers for this too- and once again it's hard to whittle the list down to 5!

Here are the honorees of this year's Trixie and the Moai Beautiful Cover Awards. I will say I feel bad covering up these incredible covers! My apologies!!

They are listed in the order that I read them this year!

The New Trixie and the Moai Beautiful Book Cover Awards 2022: Finalists

This year I decided I wanted to celebrate the beautiful covers of books I've read this year! The old adage of never judging a book by its cover is useful but that doesn't mean you can't praise incredible covers! I did decide that this award should not include the winners of the original Trixie and the Moai award since (in theory but probably not in practice!) that award has already raised some attention. Mostly it just gives me more books to celebrate!! :D With that said, I've decided that the nature of this award allows me to recognize multiple books in a series! Yay!

One more note before I announce the finalists. Beauty as we know is in the eye of the beholder but I want to be clear, this term is being applied to covers that impress me, that make me want to look at them again and again! I'm sure I'm not objective, but I feel like there is a diversity of styles here... Though there does seem to be a circle-throughline!

So here are my finalists for the first annual Trixie and the Moai Beautiful Book Cover awards!

The Trixie and the Moai 2022 Awards

It is time to announce the winner's of the seventh annual Trixie and the Moai awards. OMG! I can't believe I've been doing this for so long!

It's always hard to pick just 5 favorites from my year's reading. As always I don't have rubric for deciding who gets an award. I just choose the ones that linger in my mind. Additionally, I list the honorees in the order I read them. I hope if you choose one of these to read that you love it too!

The Trixie and the Moai Finalist for 2022

Every year I try to pick my favorite book of the year and give them an award. It means nothing to anyone but me and yet here we are!

Sometimes you can't tell how fantastic your reading year has been until you reflect on all the books you've read. That certainly happened to me. Reflection showed me it's hard to pick a favorite, which is an awesome problem to have!! (I have rule that I only ever list the first book in a series I love since anyone looking for recommendations might not realize they're looking at book 2 or 14 in a series.)

FYI: My favorite books of the year are listed in the order I read them.
